What is the object of existence? What we actually are?

What is the object of existence? What we actually are? Can we, as human consciousness, actually interact with the Matrix of the Multi-Verse?

I would like to open a discussion regarding the concept of an Adept and its required preparation in an esoteric school settings like the Rosicrucian orders, not only AMORC but other Rosicrucian schools or orders as well

Note: This is not a work of fiction but a deep research into the subject supported by many years of study and practices and directed to sincere students of the Rosicrucian Traditions.

It is quite a journey to try to answer questions like that, but I would like to put down my reflections on the subject, based on my knowledge and experience.

As I recall, one of the first authors to capture my full attention were Louis Pauwels and Jacques Bergier, then came Paul Brunton, Gourdieff, Ouspensky, Carlos Castaneda  and currently Paul Foster Case and  Josephine MaCarthy.

There is something that regularly occurs in my life. Every time I have a question, related to my inner development, sources of information and guidance start to come to me. I don't need to stay in meditation or stop my external activities. Things happen along my daily activities without interruption. Clues start to pop up around and they are processed on the go.

One incredible example occurred while I was doing anthropological research at the south Amazonian rain forest visiting an advanced point of contact with the tribes on the proximity of the Xingu river at the heart of Brazil.

While waiting transport from the base operation camp to the aboriginal village near by I was sitting on a trunk of a fallen tree feeling the place and contemplating the nature; in that place so exuberant and beautiful. At some point, a wise man sit close to me, then look at me and started to talk giving me the answers which I was looking for during the last couple of months of reflection and inner contemplation!

However, some times the answers usually came in a form of a information from a book. Today, for instance I felt compelled to take my iPAD and using the GoodReader pdf library application I found one of my jewels from the past, The Morning of the Magicians. That book was my first opening to the multi-verse; to the vastness of the Cosmos and the human possibilities. Immediately I recalled a quote from Pauwels' book which left a long lasting impression into my mind:

"My father had underlined in red pencil in this book a passage I still remember:

Even the most troubled epoch is worthy of respect, because it is the work not just of a few people but of humanity; and thus it is the work of creative nature—which is often cruel but never absurd. If this epoch in which we are living is a cruel one it is more than ever Our duty to love it, to penetrate it with our love till we have removed the heavy weight of matter screening the light that shines on the farther side. " (Pauwells, L. 1920, p.11).

Then another Brunton's book also came onto my hands. Its opening  statement was straight to the point:

"The more I wander around this turning globe the more I realize that it is not only individual men, parties, governments or peoples who are to blame for the distressful condition of the human race—so mesmerized by popular follies and so deluded by traditional fables!—but also common ignorance concerning three fundamental questions :

What am I ?
What is the object of existence ?
What is the meaning of the world and experience ?

I perceive with startling precision that the bursting of this integument of ancient ignorance will do more than anything else to make enduring peace descend on our troubled earth.

The pith of the world problem is too plain for our complex age to perceive : all acts are sprayed up by the hidden fountain of mind, and when men learn to think rightly they will act accordingly, not before. Their deeds can never be greater than their ideas, for the unheard declarations of the mind decide the noisy journeys of the feet. The world's bitter sorrows and bestial sins are but symptoms of a disease whose cause is old ignorance and whose only cure is new knowledge." (Brunton, Paul 1941, p.7)

However, at this point in my life I have to disagree with Burton as my own inner experience has being shown that the cure or resolution cannot rest on pure knowledge from the mind and the answer to those three fundamental question cannot be found in the rational thinking by itself but only through direct experience from the pure consciousness beyond the mind's realm.

What we actually are?

In the beginning of my esoteric studies I found that the correct question for a seed meditation was What am I and not Who am I. As you can see, the Who addresses the persona, the ego; while the What explores the nature of our Being. What we are made of - energy in its various states and realms.

At this point I would like to share with you another of my life changing experiences, which I had during my earlier meditations. At that time I was reading Ramana Maharishi teachings and found exactly about those question and I decided to try it, during my afternoon meditation at the University Campus, by the garden close to  the University Library. After while, during the meditation, the question of What Am I? was brought into my field of consciousness and  I focused into its essence until I realised its deep meaning in a form of an inner experience. My attention was focused on my entire being and its existence as part of everything. As the meditation went deeper and deeper I found myself into a void. However not emptiness but a conscious void, witnessing the existence... during that experience I realised that my core is not the Who but a conscious witnessing void of inner silence!

Reviewing my Rosicrucian Master Monographs I found an image, that until today, is the best representation to explain that experience, or what we actually are. That image was given by Venerable Frater Harvey Spencer Lewis, Imperator of the Rosicrucian Order AMORC at the time the monograph was written. He pictured the Source connecting several lamp bulbs. Each spark or flaming filaments being the human core, which he called the Soul Personality, a wave in the cosmic ocean of Consciousness and the bulb cover the body. Therefore, each Soul Personally seems to have an individuality but at the same time share the oneness of the ocean, the Energy of the Spirit. That's what we actually are: quantum* fields of consciousness collapsed in the holographic* ocean of Cosmic energy.  We are energy and we share that energy with the stars, with the Earth and all living and non living things, here and everywhere. Our consciousness give us the sense of individuality but deep states of meditation put us back in contact with the Cosmic Consciousness* reveling what we really are.

What is the Purpose of Our Existence ?

Has a wave in the ocean purpose to be?

Existence has been variously defined by sources. In common usage, it is the world one is aware or conscious of, and that persists independent of one's absence. Other definitions describe it as everything that 'is', or more simply, everything. Some define it to be everything that most people believe in. ("Definition of EXISTENCE". Merriam-Webster.)

Powerful as it seems, that definition doesn't tell us about OUR existence. We need to dig deeper to find out more.

Existence of a body or object is about having some individuality based on properties of vibrations in the Multiverse. Vibrations that have distinct frequencies from other vibrations. With that occurring we have an individual body or object that we can say it exists.

What about those parts or components of us that do not have physical substance, or vibrations/frequencies that are more subtle that those who manifest as physical substance? Like the Vital Force, the Aura, the Etheric body and the Mind and Consciousness? What we can say about the existence of those things?

What immediately occurs to us is that we can only KNOW that something exist because we have conscious perception of that. Otherwise, nothing would have existed to us, not even ourselves. Plato, the famous Greek philosopher, once said: "I think therefore I am" (translated into English, of course). That is correct for the Mind and the existence of the ego, our lower self, as the thinking process reflects the ego and its attributes. However seems that Plato didn't realised the distinction between the Mind and the Consciousness. The meditation practices demonstrate to us that the practitioner's consciousness exists beyond the activity of the mind, witnessing the mind's processes.

At this point we can say that the ultimate witness of our existence is our consciousness.

Also some meditation practices seems to demonstrate that reaching that level our consciousness opens up to other levels of vibration/frequencies that we call other realms or planes. Therefore, if our consciousness have the ability to reach other levels of existence beyond our own, we may say that we have ability to manifest our intention into those levels,  manifesting, causing changes in the Multiversal energy. Also that may imply that we exist in many different levels of the multiversal energy (that explain why Theosophists keep saying that we have several energetic bodies, each one to allow us to interact with a different energy level of the multiverse). From that point on we may conclude that our nature/existence is very complex and all our levels of existence are intertwined making one hole being.

The inescapable  conclusion from my previous reasoning is that our purpose in life must be related to integration of our various conscious levels and become aware of our true multidimensional actuality.

From my point of view, our purpose as conscious beings, is to become aware of our true nature overwriting the beliefs generated by our 5 physical senses. The way I see it, we can only overcome our deep conditioning based on the senses is by expanding our consciousness beyond the mind including our nature as energy beings and starting to use our higher senses or psychic senses. That higher perception system gives us access to the actual stuff of the Cosmos and its dynamics.

Can We Interact with the Matrix of the Multiverse?

At this stage you may ask: but consciousness and mind are not the same thing?

From the teaching of the Yoga* Masters and from my own experience during deep meditation, the answer is NO. During meditation, reaching deeper levels, the first stage is to get into contact is with the OBSERVER. It happens when do you manage to detach yourself (consciousness = the observer)  from the thinking process, from the constant mind chat, from all the mental images and memories, from the need to distinguish between past and future, in short being in the NOW. As soon as you get into the NOW you may enter into the second stage: the Inner SILENCE. At that moment you may realised that you have an option to focus your consciousness in itself or in the activity of the mind. From that point on you are free from the mental enslavement. If you turn the focus of your consciousness into ITSELF you my realise the OBSERVER, the existence of your Higher Self as a continuous OBSERVER, the ULTIMATE WITNESS of your existence. That's when the Inner Journey begins.

Then from the point of view of you inner Self, through your own direct experience, you may realize that the actuality of the Multiverse is an amorphous ocean of energy or vibration, from which the mind renders the shape for the 3D reality. However, only the consciousness get in touch with its actuality not the mind; which is attached to the physical senses and to the interpretation provided by the thinking process. The consciousness can access the actuality of the Multiverse; the mind get only interpretations of it.

In the Holographic Universe*, everything is connected, Actuality and Reality need to be considered as two sides of the same coin. From that perspective, the mind is related to the Microcosms, while the consciousness is related to the Macrocosms.

The Tuning Fork Effect

During our explorations of the multiverse we may discover how our mind and consciousness can interact with the Multiverse.

Josephine McCarthy, in her Magical Knowledge volume 1, give us some clues about what is going on in the Multiverse and how to interact with its matrix/core structure:

"Our very limited understanding of the Universe prevents us from seeing the vast multi-layered highways of consciousness, power and substance (particles), how they interact and how their interactions trigger more highways, patterns and expressions." (...) "The inner and outer worlds are not separate realms; they are intricately interwoven like a bolt of fine linen. Anything you do energetically in one realm affects many others." (...) "Any act of magic will have an effect through the worlds to a greater of lesser degree, because magic is the tuning fork of the Universe: it is the vibration that effects changes far beyond our understanding of the original action and allows us to perceive and interact with power."  (McCarthy, Josephine 2012)

Also in her Quareia teachings, she highlights the effect of Magic in our Multiverse:

"(...) a properly trained adept can walk up to a candle, or go out into the sunshine or the wind, or can walk into a church or temple and just stand there. They can utter a single ritual call or intent with no dressing, no candles, no robes, scripts, or wands, and all the power will immediately switch on and start working. That is because the adept is plugged into the power properly and the simple action of intent with focus, uttering that intent or using a physical action to trigger externalization of that intent, will bring the magic powerfully into action." (McCarthy, Josephine 2014, p.4)
So, what is going on here? Those are the clues of how we, after some specific training, can learn to interact with the matrix of the multiverse. The esoteric art of Magic is one of the most ancient ways to interact with the cosmic powers. The underline patterns and energetic structures are all around us/in us ready to be switched on by our will/intention. What we need is to realise our place in the Cosmos and act accordingly.

McCarthy gave us a clue with her concept of magic as a Tuning Fork of the Universe (Multiverse).

We are not alone. We are part of the infinite Multiverse!

  • Cosmos: The cosmos is a complex and orderly system, such as our Universe; the opposite of Chaos. It is the Universe regarded as an ordered system.[1] The philosopher Pythagoras is regarded as the first person to apply the term cosmos (Greek κόσμος) to the order of the Universe. (Source: Wikipedia)

  • Consciousness:Consciousness is the quality or state of awareness, or, of being aware of an external object or something within oneself.[1][2] It has been defined as: sentience, awareness, subjectivity, the ability to experience or to feel, wakefulness, having a sense of selfhood, and the executive control system of the mind.[3] Despite the difficulty in definition, many philosophers believe that there is a broadly shared underlying intuition about what consciousness is.[4] As Max Velmans and Susan Schneider wrote in The Blackwell Companion to Consciousness: "Anything that we are aware of at a given moment forms part of our consciousness, making conscious experience at once the most familiar and most mysterious aspect of our lives." (Source: Wikipedia)
  • Holographic Universe: Today nearly everyone is familiar with holograms, three-dimensional images projected into space with the aid of a laser. Now, two of the world’s most eminent thinkers -- University of London physicist David Bohm, a former protégé of Einstein’s and one of the world’s most respected quantum physicists, and Stanford neurophysiologist Karl Pribram, one of the architects of our modern understanding-of-the brain -- believe that the universe itself may be a giant hologram, quite literally a kind of image or construct created, at least in part, by the human mind. This remarkable new way of looking at the universe explains not only many of the unsolved puzzles of physics, but also such mysterious occurrences as telepathy, out-of-body and near-death experiences, "lucid" dreams, and even religious and mystical experiences such as feelings of cosmic unity and miraculous healings. (Source: (Review by Larry Dossey, M.D., author of Space, Time & Medicine)
  • Multiverse: It is a concept of a multidimensional Universe. The multiverse (or
meta-universe) is the hypothetical set of infinite or finite possible
universes (including the historical universe we consistently experience)
that together comprise everything that exists: the entirety of space,
time, matter, and energy as well as the physical laws and constants that
    describe them. (Source: Wikipedia)
  • Quantum Entanglement:Quantum entanglement is a physical phenomenon that occurs when pairs or groups of particles are generated or interact in ways such that the quantum state of each particle cannot be described independently – instead, a quantum state may be given for the system as a whole. (Source: Wikipedia)
  • Ritual Magic:  Ceremonial magic or ritual magic, also referred to as high magic and as learned magic in some cases,[1] is a broad term used in the context of Hermeticism or Western esotericism to encompass a wide variety of long, elaborate, and complex rituals of magic. It is named as such because the works included are characterized by ceremony and myriad necessary accessories to aid the practitioner. It can be seen as an extension of ritual magic, and in most cases synonymous with it. (Source: Wikipedia)
  • Yoga: ˈjoʊɡə/; Sanskrit: योग, Listen; are the physical, mental, and spiritual practices or disciplines that aim to transform body and mind. The term denotes a variety of schools, practices and goals. (Source: Wikipedia)

  1. Excellent article brother! I am putting it all together piece by piece. This article along with Tom Campbell's (physicist) work has supported my long intuition that I (physical self here on earth) is just a character. The soul (individual unit of consciousness) can descend and "play" the character that is best suiting for the soul's evolution. The character (me) is a creation with the potential to go on X number of paths. Which path get played out depends upon how well the soul "plays" out the character. How well the soul handles the ups and downs of this characters plot is up to it and determines evolution/learning/growth, etc. This is my theory and its still evolving but I think it's something like this. A virtual reality inside of a quantum computer.

    1. Frater RL, thank you for your comments and sorry for the delay in my replay. It just the right moment, that's all...
Interesting your vision of the interaction Soul (Inner/higher self)<>Persona (ego). However, you must consider that your HS is that part of you that has the Cosmic Consciousness and that wisdom includes all possible manifestations on any Plane. So the concept of Soul "play" is something bound by time-space 3D/4D or physical/Astral. That concept implies limits to the Cosmic Consciousness so it would not be part of it. It may be a simple mind construct. I would recommend deeper meditation on that aspect.
