Who Are the Inner Plane Adepti or Masters?

I noticed that the majority of the Rosicrucian Orders put emphasis to the fact that the student must seek contact/guidance with the Inner Plane beings. My question is Why? What we can benefit from that? What kind of Being should we seek to contact?

Introduction

And most importantly, how do I know that I am making contact with a higher Being and not any other astral being in disguise that can do harm to myself?  I know, I know that first we need to contact our Higher Self and them seek the guidance of a Master on the Path, my be under the Higher Self's guidance.

This question is something that troubles me since my studies in the higher degrees of AMORC. So I decided to explore that question together with you, sharing my finding and expectations on this quest for answers.

As always, when I started to think so vast and deep like this subject, the right book, resource or contact come to me or to  my attention (if I already got the book). My internal Guidance working! That book was The Esoteric Orders and Their Work" by Dion Fortune.

Opening that book, I found Gareth Knight's "Introductory Essay" for that book entitled The Work of the Inner Plane Adepti. In that essay, the author explains that the Adepti or Masters (Adepti in their various degrees of inner realization) are human beings who have done their round of incarnation in the physical plane but now reached their freedom from it and decided to work closely to it, but not bounded to it, to help humankind to evolve to their level of wisdom and understanding of the Cosmic Law.

However, studying the A.M.O.R.C. Master Monograph #159 of the 11th Degree we found that, from the Order Point of view, the "Invisible Masters" to whom the student is supposed to contact are very advanced Adepti still living on the physical plane which have chosen to isolate themselves and act as Inner Plane contacts offering guidance and knowledge to the advanced students.

This post is just started and a lot of new material will come in time. Stay tuned...

When They Were First Known?

Seems that the revelation of the Cosmic Masters or Inner Adepti was first reveled by Madame Blavatsky through her works with the Theosophical Society.

 Helena Petrovna Blavatsky ( 1831 – 1891)'s Masters

Master Kut-Hu-Mi

 Blavatsky's first reveled Masters were:

Master Kut-Hu-Mi or Koot Hoomi (also spelled Kuthumi, and frequently referred to simply as K.H.) is one of the Mahatmas that inspired the founding of the Theosophical Society. He engaged in a correspondence with two English Theosophists living in India, A. P. Sinnett and A. O. Hume, correspondence was published in the book The Mahatma Letters to A. P. Sinnett. In reference to this Mme. Blavatsky wrote:
"The name of Rishi Koothumi is mentioned in more than one Purana, and his Code is among the 18 Codes written by the various Rishis and preserved at Calcutta in the library of the Asiatic Society. But we have not been told whether there is any connection between our Mahatma of that name, and the Rishi, and we do not feel justified in speculating upon the subject."
K.H.'s early letters to Sinnett are signed with the name Koot Hoomi Lal Sing.(Wikipedia)

Master Morya El

Master Morya El - is one of the "Masters of the Ancient Wisdom" within modern Theosophical beliefs. H. P. Blavatsky originally described the existence of a spiritual master whom she considered her guru, and who went by, among other names, Morya. Blavatsky said that Morya and another master, Koot Hoomi, were her primary guides in establishing the Theosophical Society. Blavatsky also wrote that Masters Morya and Koot Hoomi belonged to a group of highly developed humans known to some as the Great White Brotherhood (though this is not how they described themselves). Master Djwhalkhul

Alice Bailey  (1880 – 1949)

Alice Bailey, also had an extensive work with her personal Master called the Tibetan.

Master Djwhalkhul (The Tibetan) - Djwal Khul (variously spelled 'Djwhal Khul', 'Djwal Kul', the 'Master D.K.', 'D.K.', or simply 'DK'), is believed by some Theosophists and others to be a Tibetan disciple in the tradition of ancient esoteric spirituality known as The Ageless Wisdom tradition. The texts describe him as a member of the 'Spiritual Hierarchy', or 'Brotherhood', of Mahatmas, one of the Masters of the Ancient Wisdom, defined as the spiritual guides of mankind and teachers ancient cosmological, metaphysical, and esoteric principles that form the origin of all the world's great philosophies, mythologies and spiritual traditions.[1] According to Theosophical writings, Djwal Khul is said to work on furthering the spiritual evolution of our planet through the teachings offered in the 24 books by Alice Bailey of Esoteric Teachings published by The Lucis Trust; he is said to have telepathically transmitted the teachings to Bailey and is thus regarded by her followers as the communications director of the Masters of the Ancient Wisdom.

Master Maha

Raymond Bernard (1923-2006)

Maha, Raymond Bernard's Master - According to the Tradition, there are invisible masters who appear when the seeker is ready, attuned and in resonance with the master. An invisible master is an enlightened person who gradually reveals himself to seekers. In his essay, Bernard tells us a lot about the Adepti:

"The official monographs of our Order, the works published under the authority of, our tradition, the articles and conferences of our beloved Imperator as well as my own writings and explanations, repeat without ceasing that the Rosicrucian Order AMORC gives to its members the means of visible initiation which permits them one day to reach the invisible brotherhood. In other words it is often said that the Rosicrucian Order is the authentic VISIBLE way towards the INVISIBLE brotherhood of the Rose-Croix. The work, zeal and perseverance leads the sincere member to the state of initiatic understanding required for admission among the adepts of the Invisible Fraternity where THOSE WHO ARE READY are received. One can understand as a consequence that the invisible fraternity of the Rose-Croix IS CONCERNED with the activities of its outer organization -The Rosicrucian Order AMORC — both collectively and by the progress of each of its members. This progress is evaluated not by the mass of monographs studied, but by the TRUE development realized by the Rosicrucian and above all if a member knows how to USE the visible methods confided in him by the outer Rose-Croix, and if, in consequence, he has built an inner structure of sufficient value to show THAT HE IS READY. Then he can be assured that the doors of the inner Rose-Croix will be opened when the right moment comes. The responsibility of his own advancement is thus left to each member. He will inevitably reap by sincere work, immeasurably more understanding and efficiency and in the last analysis his life will be better, more orderly and happier.

But the way of initiation is a hard school of patience and if the Rosicrucian accepts the lessons and obstinately follows his path, the Rose-Croix finally will not be to him only a simple emblem. IT WILL BE ALSO AN INNER STATE, thanks to which, he will take his place among THOSE WHO REMAIN SILENT, amid the SILENT ONES of the invisible fraternity of the Rosy Cross. That is, one understands, the vigilant aim of the visible organization which is the Rosicrucian Order AMORC and it infuses to this end LIFE, LIGHT AND LOVE, as it at the same time stimulates the directing officers towards more RIGOUR and SEVERITY if the necessity collective or individually arises.

Therefore at a relatively recent date they left the Orient for Europe and they pursue their mission from the traditional places and in some NEW PLACES, which nowadays as heretofore, were known to accepted adepts under the name of "Secret Houses of the Rose-Croix". (...) It was of these SECRET HOUSES that reference was made in the course of certain conversations with those responsible persons belonging to the A ... and what they told me has completed the information that my office authorized me to know already, that a new light has been given to me concerning the Rose-Croix in its marvelous ensemble and the Rosicrucian Order AMORC in its unique importance at the heart of the physical world, and the new cycle which they outlined. Moreover, as the High Council ordered me to do, I have waited for the time that was prescribed, and all BEING READY, I have been received into a Secret House." (Bernard, 1969)

What Are Their Aim?

Some of communications with those Masters seems to indicate that they are concerned to rise awareness of one Tradition as a result of the fusion of Western and Eastern old traditions. Their teaching also include:

  • The human contact with their Higher Self
  • The human evolution towards the spiritual Ascension
  • The human high standards of ethic and spiritual discipline
  • Rising awareness of the Divine aspect of the human being
  • How we as human being fit into the Grand Scheme of the Cosmos
  • What are our individual Mission as part of the Human Race

How They Communicate?

In the same article referred above, Gareth Knigth gives us an insight on their ways to commnicate with selected students of the Mysteries. Basically they required from the disciple high psychic development to be a channel for their insightful messages. According to various Adepti, like Annie Beasant and Blavatsky they can communicate via telepathic contact and do not require any mediunic trance.

The same was reported by the Rosicrucian Adepti, Raymond Bernard in his profound work entitled The Secret Houses of the Rose-Croix where he describes extensively about his contacts with the Secret Fraternity of the Rosicrucians, high level Adepti who work monitoring the human affairs for the benefit of the human race. They also provide advanced initiatic training for those who are chosen considering their advancement and understanding of the Cosmic Law.

Also according to the A.M.O.R.C. teachings, 11th Degree, the Invisible Masters - after selecting the student according to their grade of development  and attunement with the Master's mission - start to approach the student testing their receptivity by subtly using a technique called Assumption to merge Their consciousness with the consciousness of the student suggesting and inspiring to make the contact strong and more fluid. Only after complete synchronization with the mind of the student the Master reveal themselves and can be visible or audible to the selected student.
