Invisibility According to Practices of the Golden Dawn & AMORC

A lot of controversial discussions are going on in the Rosicrucian and Golden Dawn fora about the subject of Invisibility.

May be the subject is new for the GD community, but it is not for the Rosicrucians. Since the first R+C manifesto in 1622, when the "invisible brotherhood" place their placards all over Paris, the subject of invisibility is on the table.

I am also noticing that there is some kind of difference in terms of approach to the practice of the Art. Let's take an example comparison between AMORC and GD. We may noticed that the GD teachings favours Ritual practice while AMORC approach the subject from the experimental point of view. In that sense, with GD rituals the mechanics of the phenomenon are hidden, while the AMORC 'experiment' favours the process by which the phenomenon takes place. May be that's the reason why the Invisibility hasn't gained much credit among GD magicians...

Taking the Invisibility practice, what GD offers is a ritual invocation pleading the god of appearances to hide the subject. The practitioner didn't know how it happens, hopping that the invoked god will take care of the process, while with AMORC teachings the practitioner learns what forces are involved and how to control them to achieve the desired goal. That method also has an advantage of improving the practitioner concentration skills and the ability to control the cosmic energy by the power of will. The consequences of the different approaches are obvious in relation to the psychic development of the practitioner.

For details about this exercise, from the AMORC point of view, refer to the book "Steve Richards - Invisibility" (it is available from the internet). The author quote the entire sections of the AMORC's 9th Temple degree on the Invisibility exercise, called the "Cloud of Invisibility".

Reviewing the exercise, you may noticed that it starts by the practitioner creating a cloud of pure energy by sheer concentration of the mind. Then they need to tune their skills to control the created cloud turning it into a spiral of energy. That is the real starting point for further experimentations/manifestations. At that point the practitioner have an incredible experience of the birth of the Universe. Only after several manipulations of that cloud/spiral of cosmic energy the practitioner is able to use its effects.

I would like to point out that Invisibility is a subproduct of that exercise. The real deal is about the practitioner to be able to develop their power of concentration manifesting matter from energy as well as creating a Portal do Higher Dimensions.

I would like to open a discussion regarding the concept of an Adept and its required preparation in an esoteric school settings like the Rosicrucian orders, not only AMORC but other Rosicrucian schools or orders as well

Note: This is not a work of fiction but a deep research into the subject supported by many years of study and practices and directed to sincere students of the Rosicrucian Traditions.

  1. I think the real deal about the 'cloud' is more from that "inward space" between two polarities. Since that space not place has infinite potential it take only a creative mind to give it form and substance. There is something called the 'rainbow body' , however, most of us mortals are in fact invisible to willing it into existence since it is by God's grace only. What AMORC calls Cosmic. I think AMORC should have a better approach to this subject , but who knows, someone out there must have been successful in these experiments .

    1. Hi Datacide, according to my understanding and experience with that AMORC experiment, the “electronic cloud” or “cosmic cloud” is formed by a cosmic energy being projec throug the eyes of the practitioner in the quantum field in the vicinity of the operator. You need to keep in mind that we are living as part of an unified field of energy to which everything can not be distinguished by frequencies. Our eyes’s energy emits a being of energy modulated by the mind manifesting the “cloud” by the use of intention.

The closest I ever came to the experience of transparency was many years ago during meditation when I felt a sudden 'drop' or sensation and afterwards felt depersonalized and the altered perception that everything was transparent. I really did not like the sensation because of attachments to things. I was , however, not invisible and neither was I invisible when having a out of body experience. I believe in the metaphysics of the after-image but as far as invisibility I am a bit skeptical. The rainbow body can only be achieved by those who are advanced to a very high degree. Like Christ . I am also thinking the cloud more as a metaphor than as a apparition. And that the more one wants to achieve it , the more one distances themselves from anything conscious.

    1. Hi Datacide,
The experience of ‘Transparency’ as you put it, seems to me something similar to what was experienced by Paramahansa Yogananda published in his Autobiography of a Yogi. Not sure if it has any similarities with the invisibility cloud. The idea is rather opposite, as the invisibility cloak means to conceal and not reveal.
Out-of-body projections seems to be related with the hability of the practioner to project their consciousness using an Astral Body which may or may not be visible the psychic witnesses.

    2. visibility would be revealed as the spirit takes on a body from the ether or remains invisible but is able to 'speak' or affect another body via their nervous system and blood.

    3. Unless one has a special grace I extremely doubt that this experiment has ever been willfully successful. Everything points to the above down rather than the down up. Other thoughts might include the Philadelphia Experiment.

I can understand experiencing the etheric world selflessly. With the will a density can be created. All creativity is one result. I have noticed clouds prefigure in Alchemical emblems and early Christian Art.

Interesting that AMORC claims the impossibility of Jesus disappearing from his tomb but yet gives the disappearing experiment to its students.

  6. "How do we get from the quantum macrocosm to the microcosm of neural processes in our skulls?"
"every movement is between opposites" S. Thomas.
" Schiller, we can cultivate this third form of knowing. It was, he asserted, a faculty that allows us to transcend the purely personal. "That which first connects man with the surrounding universe," he wrote, "is the power of reflective contemplation."

"Padre Pio describes under obedience the person that bilocates: "He knows what he wants, knows were he goes, but he doesn't know if it's the body or the mind that goes." "There is an urgency, a grave danger, a soul or a body to save"."
Now I am reading "Coming in the Clouds" An evangelical case for the invisibility of Christ at his second coming [etheric?]. The bible is full of references to this cloud of invisibility and is not only pictured in numerous art but also in alchemical emblems. Still pondering this...

    1. Hi Datacide, exercises like that are aimed to demonstrate the mind’s scope and possibilities. The invisibility itself is not important.
